Who is the creative and production team?

This project is the result of a teamwork involving:

o De La Rue – the substrate supplier
o The banknote factory of the National Bank of Kazakhstan – the printer
o The technical and production team of SURYS – the producer of the security features (Design, Optical Laboratory, Production, R&D teams)

What was it for and how did it work?

Pioneer in the adoption of new technology and very sensitive to beautiful workpieces, the Banknote factory of the National Bank of Kazakhstan has selected SURYS to bring out the best in their newly born product: Gold Fish banknote.

The banknote carry many features relating to the latest expertise of the factory and shows an outstanding know-how in the printing and integration of the element of a banknote and shows how powerful and symbolical a banknote is, and as a result the responsibility and importance of the design.

This limited edition is a perfect illustration of the Kazakh know-how, SURYS is extremely proud to have been part of this beautiful journey.

Leveraging the proven foundations of the Plasmogram™ Reverso is at the forefront of security elements. Applied on a clear window part of the polymer banknote, Plasmogram™ technology offers sticking metallic multi-color and multi-aspect rendering in perfect correlation and register with optically variable elements. The security stripe shows different color when observed from front and backside, as well as in transmission.

Each color is associated with effects such as waves and volume effects that cannot be missed or avoided, which make the security feature attractive and unique under multiple viewing angles. These features can also be associated with usual diffractive effects to ease and attract the public attention.

With endless design possibilities, Plasmogram™Reverso is a source of inspiration for banknote designers. Indeed, it can smoothly and easily be integrated in an existing or a new issued note, enhancing and securing the overall banknote design, while embracing initial design and security features.

The perfect registration of all these colored elements creates a unique technological barrier erected against counterfeiters avoiding any printing, or ink technique to be possibly simulated in a credible way with a possible comparable visual appearance.

What is significant about this hologram project?

This limited edition features an optical security based on plasmonic sciences and nano-technologies is the latest generation of security features for windowed banknote.

It marks the first application of a Plasmogram™ Reverso on a polymer note, which is a real success, from a design point of view, which is breath-taking and from an integration point of view. The very technology that received the 2019 IHMA Award
for innovation.

The key features of Plasmogram™ Reverso lies in fact that:

  1. Strong 1st level security feature with different colors in the front side, backside, and transmission:

Authentication is achieved thanks to a classical control procedure at arm’s length whatever the lighting conditions.
It reveals a 1st set of disruptive, matt, vivid eye-catching metallic colors in the front side of the banknote and a different set of goldish color on the back side. These colored metallic effects draw the public’s awareness thanks to of their unusual and unique aspect associated with dynamic and relief holographic effects.
In addition to these different colors on both faces of the banknote, Plasmogram™ Reverso also acts as a kind of colored watermark within the transparent window.
Viewing the Plasmogram™ Reverso against the light, a 3rd set of colors becomes visible allowing an immediate recognition without any need of additional device.

  1. Design and security:

This hologram has the particularity of being ideally integrated with the printing design and gives life to the full banknote.
Each color is also associated with effects such as waves and volume effects that cannot be missed or avoided, which make the security feature attractive and unique under multiple viewing angles.
Plasmogram™ Reverso design for the Gold fish banknote is also associated with usual diffractive effects to ease and attract the public attention.
The perfect registration of all the elements creates a unique technological barrier erected against counterfeiters avoiding any printing, or ink technique to be possibly simulated in a credible way with a possible comparable visual appearance.
At last, even more secure, the hologram 2nd and 3rd level security features have been added thanks to the incorporation of micro & nano text in the pearl and the shelf.
